Dear Sir or Madam,
i’ve made a lot of inquires from FAO data for my Master Thesis. Thank you for providing it for free, it is of great value to me.
I have made quite a few calculations and suddenly realized that the data doesn’t always make sense:
As an Example: the Ukrainian Exports of Rapeseed in 2020 to Germany apparently summed up to 733.605 tons. However, Germanys imports of rapeseeds from the Ukraine were only 618.874 tons. In the year 2019 the numbers match. In 2018 and 2017 there is quite a big gap again.
The same phenomenon can be seen with Maize, Barley, Wheat and other crops traded between European countries and the Ukraine.
Can you explain how this happens and which number is more reliable, the imports or the exports?
How do these numbers come about?
kind regards
